Physicochemical Properties: Deep purple powder. Soluble in water (dark green), acetone, and cellosolve; slightly soluble in ethanol. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears as purplish-black, turning purplish-gray to black upon dilution. Forms dark bluish-green precipitate with concentrated hydrochloric acid and deep green to olive with concentrated sodium hydroxide. Sensitive to hard water.
Applications: Mainly for dyeing cellulose fabrics. Often combined with Direct Sky Blue 5B/6B and Flavanthrone Yellow G for color blending. Also used for printing, leather, paper, and pigment manufacturing.
