Physicochemical Properties: Black granules with a metallic sheen. Soluble in water (bluish-purple) and ethanol (blue). Turns blue in concentrated sulfuric acid (purple precipitate upon dilution). The aqueous solution forms dark purple precipitates with sodium hydroxide.
Applications: For dyeing wool and silk, mainly for leather dyeing, and coloring paper, wood, soap, and stamping foil. Also for ink production.
