Physicochemical Properties: Yellow powder. Soluble in water (greenish-yellow), slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone; insoluble in other organic solvents. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears greenish-yellow, with no precipitate upon dilution. Turns reddish-yellow in nitric acid. Aqueous solutions remain unchanged with hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide. Decolorizes with sodium hydrosulfite but reoxidizes to reddish-purple in air.

Applications: Mainly for dyeing wool in strong acid baths, silk in acetic acid baths, and nylon in formic acid baths. Suitable for direct printing on wool, leather dyeing, and producing color lakes. Also used for paper surface coloring, coatings, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
