Physicochemical Properties: Yellowish-green glittering crystalline blocks or granules. Soluble in cold or hot water (reddish-purple), highly soluble in ethanol (red). In concentrated sulfuric acid, appears yellowish-brown, nearly colorless upon dilution. Aqueous solutions turn nearly colorless with sodium hydroxide.
Applications: For dyeing silk, acrylic, wool, and tannin-mordanted cotton. Also for leather, paper, feathers, straw, bamboo, and wood. Combined with Malachite Green for black shades on acrylic yarn, improving lightfastness.
