Physicochemical Properties: Light brown powder. Soluble in water (orange-brown), with solubility of 35 g/L (60°C) and 50 g/L (97°C). Slightly soluble in ethanol. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears as reddish-purple, turning orange-brown upon dilution. Forms brown precipitate with concentrated hydrochloric acid and reddish-brown with sodium hydroxide. Sensitive to hard water.
Applications: Mainly for dyeing and printing viscose, cotton knitwear, and silk. Often blended with yellow, red, and gray dyes. Post-treatment with fixatives improves fastness. Also used for leather and paper.
