Physicochemical Properties: Purple-yellow powder. Soluble in water (yellowish-red), slightly soluble in ethanol (orange). In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears dark blue, turning light blue upon dilution. Highly sensitive to acids and alkalis.
Applications: Mainly used for dyeing cellulose fibers with high exhaustion but poor migration. Suitable for discharge printing. Also used for silk, wool, biological staining, and as a pH indicator (Congo red test paper, pH 3–5).
